Leeuwarden’s Municipal Office has been renovated and furnished on the basis of the Activity Related Working (AGW) housing concept. The existing city office at the foot of the Oldehove dates from 1993, and its layout as cellular offices no longer matched the new way of working. Major maintenance was also performed on the building.
Stevens Van Dijck was involved in the implementation of the new accommodation concept as an accommodation consultant. We created the program of requirements in close consultation with the users. For the total project, renovation and maintenance, Stevens Van Dijck performed the project management and executive management.
Research showed that a more efficient layout was a prerequisite for accommodating the growing organization within the existing city office. The building section “the Arch” was therefore remodeled (Phase 1). The introduction of AGW has created additional workstations and now meets user needs. In Phase 2, the work on redesigning building section “the Carre” was carried out.
For the sake of efficiency, it was decided to carry out the major maintenance of the entire city office at the same time at that time. This has resulted in a more sustainable building with lower energy consumption.
