On Oostenburg, a striking residential tower is appearing right next to the monumental Werkspoor hall. 31 leasehold freehold condominiums and 94 freehold rental apartments spread over 14 floors. The red ornamental concrete facade provides a special appearance and fits perfectly into the new Amsterdam city district being developed here. Stevens Van Dijck is filling the role of project and quality manager during the construction phase of the new De Prins building.
Amsterdam’s Oostenburgereiland was for many years the center of commerce and industry. While preserving the historic core, a tough urban neighborhood is being built on this island in the heart of the city. There is room for 1,800 homes, hospitality, entertainment and business.
In the monumental Werkspoor hall, tough men used to work with fire and steel. In the future, this will be a public place for exhibitions, markets and catering. On either side will be new housing (of which The Prince is thus a part), which will become an integral part of the Werkspoor Hall. A total of about 325 free-sector rental and owner-occupied housing units will be built on this lot and completed by the end of 2023. It will be the bustling centerpiece of the Oostenburg neighborhood.
