A new logistics center has been developed at the Kampershoek industrial park in Weert. This project involves an expansion of the logistics center that was realized in phase 1. The surface area of the distribution center has doubled with this expansion. In this phase, approximately 65,000 m² has been added, divided between the warehouse and offices. Additionally, the entire site has been equipped with parking spaces, green areas, bicycle racks, a guardhouse, and recreational areas. The site features extensive infrastructure such as barriers to streamline the movement of the many trucks arriving and departing from the loading docks.
The construction agreement involves a Design & Construct contract, with a strong emphasis on quality, finishing, and scheduling. Furthermore, extra attention has been given to green and ecological facilities. A unique aspect of this is the placement of beehives in the green strips on the parking lots. Stevens Van Dijck has project management and management.
The expansion of the distribution center has been developed on behalf of DHL Supply Chain and serves as the new hub for ASML. DHL has been handling storage and distribution for ASML for some time now. This capacity expansion aligns with ASML’s global growth as a high-tech company.
The building has been awarded with BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Core Gold! A remarkable achievement in this category of buildings, especially considering ASML’s desire to put the building into operation as quickly as possible. ASML has put in a lot of effort in implementing their business processes. This involves the installation of security systems and the placement of a large quantity of racks. As a result, parts of the building were delivered in phases (early access) so that ASML could carry out these works themselves prior to the official completion date of the entire building. Additionally, it was non-negotiable for the completion date to be postponed; ASML’s moving trucks were literally waiting outside the day after the handover. This phased delivery and the simultaneous execution of works by ASML during construction required extra attention during the execution process.
