Completion Marga Klompé Building TiU

With great enthusiasm, the symbolic first pile was driven into the ground on July 15, 2022, for Tilburg University’s brand-new educational facility, the Marga Klompé Building, named after the first female minister in the Netherlands.

The need for this new educational building arises from the growth in the number of students and evolving teaching methods. The building’s design focuses on creating an inspiring learning and working environment where both students and staff can thrive. With a capacity for approximately 1,000 students when all lecture halls and study spaces are occupied, the building meets this growing demand. Furthermore, it contributes to improving the connection between Tilburg University station, the surrounding neighborhood, and the campus.

The Marga Klompé Building is nearly energy-neutral, with almost all the required energy for the building being generated on-site, including through solar panels and the use of Ground Source Heat Pump technology. Sustainable products and materials are maximally utilized, with significant attention paid to circularity. The wooden structural framework of the building is nearly entirely reusable, and the natural stone facade cladding is suspended rather than glued, making it also reusable. An impressive step toward a sustainable and circular future for Tilburg University’s educational facility.

On December 19, 2023, the building was officially handed over to Tilburg University, and they received the keys. Soon, the first students will take their enthusiastic steps into this beautiful structure, where engaging lectures will commence from late January.

The project was awarded based on a UAV-gc contract. Stevens Van Dijck supported the client in project management from the Design & Build phase to completion. Our responsibilities included contract management and quality assurance  among other tasks.
