Nij Smellinghe Hospital and Antonius Hospital have jointly invested in a PET-CT scanner to ensure high-quality and accessible healthcare in the region. The acquisition of this advanced scanner was made possible through close collaboration between the two hospitals. The use of the scanner is expected to increase significantly due to the anticipated growth in the number of cancer patients.
The department housing the scanner has been renovated under the traditional UAV (Uniform Administrative Provisions) framework between the client and contractor. Stevens Van Dijck acted on behalf of Nij Smellinghe as project manager, overseeing the execution and coordinating the contractor’s contractual obligations.
The scanner is housed in the Nij Smellinghe hospital in Drachten and has been in use since October 2024.
The PET-CT scanner enables faster and more accurate diagnoses and offers the possibility to evaluate during treatment whether it is effective or if an alternative might be better. Due to these advantages, the scanner is increasingly being used in the treatment of oncology patients.
