TNO building Delft

Development

The former TNO building at Van Mourik Broekmanweg 6 in Delft has been completely renovated and refurbished for Delft University of Technology. The renovated 9,000-square-foot building now houses the Faculty of Mathematics and Information. The new housing includes several meeting rooms, 460 workstations, 220 study areas and dedicated study and work labs.

Stevens Van Dijck filled the role of design manager, housing consultant construction manager and superintendent, quality control. All in an intensive cooperation with FMVG TUDelft for the writing of the program of requirements, the creation of the design, the development of the work preparation and the supervision of the execution.

Building function

The first floor is a public place for meeting due to the presence of a hospitality area, labs, colloquium hall and study areas. The first to sixth floors are set up for (collaborative) work and consultation. Each floor consists of two office wings furnished with separate meeting and office spaces. The central atrium houses study areas and meeting rooms. The new entrance and shared functions ensure that the building fits in well with the TU Delft campus. Next to the accommodation on Van Mourik Broekmanweg will be a new educational building. Completion of this New Education Centre Echo intended for the Faculty of Electrical Engineering is scheduled for mid-2020.

Details

During design, the various faculty working groups were frequently involved to help them transition to the new building and a new work environment. Graphics in the meeting rooms, laboratories and in the green moss wall depict the departments’ fascinations.
