Reinier de Graaf Hospital has built a new treatment center in Voorburg. In addition to consultation and examination rooms and independent treatment rooms for a large number of general specialties, blood collection points, X-ray facilities and an IVF center (incl. laboratory) have been realized. The treatment center was built on the foundations of an old Sister’s apartment building. Stevens Van Dijck was responsible for construction management. Treatment Center Voorburg will be structurally completed in October 2021 and open in February 2022.
The first floor houses the multidisciplinary Fertility Center Voorburg. The Fertility Center provides high-quality care in the examination and treatment of infertility. The center’s laboratory environment is built according to clean room guidelines (GMP Class D); a sterile working environment with optimal air technology.
The site has high archaeological value because it is located above an ancient Roman city (Forum Hadriani) whose remains are still present in the ground. Therefore, it was not permitted to erect new construction on the site. The treatment center was built on the foundations of an old Sister’s apartment building. The existing foundation had to be poured above ground level. On top of this is a first floor that floats above ground level by means of an overhang, of 5-8 m around the building.
