Since March 2016, the official organization of the Stichtse Vecht municipality has been housed centrally in the former Municipal Administration Office (GAK) in Maarssen. After an intensive preparation period, a thorough renovation of the building began in June 2015. The conversion was carried out in phases over about 9 months, and parts of the building remained in use during the work.
During the renovation, Stevens Van Dijck did the management and budget monitoring. During this period, we also worked intensively with the Facilities and ICT departments to ensure that user requirements and technology received the desired attention and interpretation.
The first step was to look at the possibilities of housing the organization centrally. This scenario analysis also includes the locations in Breukelen and Loenen. Following the choice of the desired scenario, the program of requirements was prepared with the corresponding cost estimate. After council approval of the PoA and budget, the design process began. As chair of the design team and a participant in the internal Housing Project Group, we worked with the users and consultants involved to develop the design in detail. Based on the Final Design, tendering for the executing parties took place.
Special elements in the project are the introduction of the activity-related workplace concept where no one has their own workstation anymore and the various sustainability measures including an in-house CHP plant and PV cells on the roof for energy supply. The building is ready to serve as a town hall for at least the next 20 years.
