On Utrecht University’s Uithof Campus is the Minnaert Building. The building with its characteristic red facade and letters dates back to 1997 and was designed by NeutelingsRiedijk architects at the time. The building has been completely renovated. The building, along with the Buys Ballot Building and the new Victor J. Koningsberger Building, is now part of the education center.
Stevens Van Dijck was involved in the renovation as superintendent.
The entire education center accommodates about 6,200 students. The entrance has been widened and is now in open communication with the corridor along the lab and work group rooms, greatly improving access to these spaces.
In addition to the entrance, the two lecture halls, eleven study group rooms and six lab rooms, all offices, individual and group study areas, the science study point, the restaurant and the espresso bar have also been renovated.
The renovation focused on improving functionality, technology and sustainability. The sustainable nature is reflected in the stated ambition to achieve a BREEAM rating of “very good. The Uithof Campus is familiar territory, as we were also previously involved in the new construction of the Joint Environmental Laboratory (GML), the Victor J. Koningsberger Building and the Geosciences office building as managing director and supervisor.
