The former headquarters of the Bijenkorf at Hoogoorddreef in Amsterdam no longer met the current requirements and needs of the organization in terms of office environment. Therefore, the Bijenkorf in Amsterdam hired a new location; De Oliphant.
Stevens Van Dijck was involved as project manager from the program of requirements phase, tasked with organizing and managing the entire design, implementation and relocation project.
The Oliphant is a multi-tenant building that has undergone a major metamorphosis that included achieving a BREEAM label of “very good.” De Bijenkorf leases approximately 8,200 sq. m. VVO (casco +) in the Oliphant spread over 6 floors. The leased floors have been made suitable for headquarters. Bijenkorf is eager to provide a new inspiring and creative workplace for everyone who works on the Bijenkorf brand. A place to collaborate, surprise others and constantly evolve. A distinctive design principle was to create a new connection of the storey floors in a way that facilitates collaboration. In addition to the workstations that match the activities of the respective departments, a restaurant, meeting and training center and a customer contact center have also been created.
The Bijenkorf headquarters is dotted with vintage furniture and leafy plants, perhaps a nod to millennials. The Beehive’s interior design focuses on bio-based or recycled materials, highlighting its stance on sustainable design.
